33. 2 MONTHS LATER

Assalamu'alaikum, all!

My apologies for the long, long hiatus. I have been crazy (and I mean REALLY CRAZY) busy with the wedding preps and other stuff. I think I've turned into quite a Bridezilla for the past couple of weeks, but thank God I'm able to handle everything that (crazily) came along the way.
HAHAHA I SO NEED THIS REMINDER RIGHT NOW. However, I believe I have fairly good reasons as to why I actually am one.

Firstly, I just started my new job not too long ago. Thus, I was having a whole crazy July of handing over all of my stuff over the past years with my previous company.

I know, I actually took a risk when I resigned especially when the wedding is already so near and I wasn't sure if any organisation would want to hire me because I would end up taking some Marriage Leaves for my wedding and honeymoon, etc. However, I had an offer a few days after I sent in my resignation letter to my previous company. ALL PRAISES TO ALLAH SWT, really. Initially, I didn't want to leave but I figured that there was no point in dragging my feet to work and not being able to put my 100% because I've completely lost interest.

I'm not going into the details of why I resigned, but let's just say.. I've been too nice sampai orang pijak kepala. Sigh.

Anyways, moving on to more #AjulDeeWedding related stuff..

Few updates:

1) BERKATS
So, my parents and I finally managed to decide on our berkats a month before the wedding! Apparently, we were going back and forth on what we wanted to give our guests. All of us were cracking our heads for the best option and over the past months, ideas were pouring in and out of our heads.

And amidst the branstorming, we all wanted only one thing - something simple yet unique, and of course, something which doesn't burn a hole in our pockets!

I was clearly already panicking because both my parents and I did not have the time for more chats with regards to the berkat issue.

So, I was Google-ing ideas after ideas and FINALLY.. One fine day, I brought this certain idea to my parents and they immediately agreed! And dengan semangatnya, my dad initiated me to contact Shirin (the sales person) from Walson. They are one of the higher end distributors of several consumable items that you can find in 5-star hotels.

Well, that sounded expensive. But the item we picked wasn't very expensive at all! It was actually way below our initial budget and because my ahma gave us a sum of money to help with the wedding expenditures, it was 90% covered. ALHAMDULILLAH! :)

Berkats? Settle the kettle. Phew!

2) OUTFITS & ACCESSORIES
My mum dragged me and my partner to Geylang last Saturday afternoon to complete all our final errands for the wedding. We went to alter Ajul's outfit and then rounded both the pasar and Joo Chiat to look for more of my bridal accessories.

And now that that's been sorted out, I can breathe a little. Now, I just gotta find a day for me to sort them all out and decide which accessory to pair with which outfit.

Perks of being a DIY bride! Hehehe.

3) KOMPANG
I finally made yet another huge deposit to my kompang vendor, after months of having our schedules clash like crazy! Hadi from Ukiran Rentak (yes, of course I would go back under the Keris umbrella) was very accommodating to the idea of what I wanted during my wedding, and even offered to have a little extra something here and there during the whole bertandang session.

That is one of the perks of dealing with someone you actually know - it's actually much easier, and you always get "VIP" services for a lower cost. HAHAHAHA I SOUND LIKE A FREELOADER, I KNOW! But, really luh. If you work with someone you know, it can get much more flexible than you think.

So, that's another one off the list.

4) WEDDING ITINERARY
This one, I am ULTIMATELY thankful for! Because I have my Best Man, my Maid of Honor and of course, my event's Emcee. They came over last Saturday evening, and brainstormed my entire itinerary with me!

A+ to my Best Man for lugging his laptop to my place, A++ to my event's emcee for being so super organised and meticulous in doing up my itinerary (all thanks to the daily lesson planning in school, I guarantee!), and A+++ to my Maid of Honor for coming all the way from Pasir Ris after coming back from a flight that morning even if it's just for a little while.

Syukur to Allah, for giving me very few but very true friends. Oh my, I'm feeling so loved!

5) DULANG CAKE
I managed to finally finalise the design of the cake on my dulang for Ajul, dutifully done by none other than The Gateau. You can check her out on Instagram; @the_gateau. It is a 100% Halal bakery, specialising in cakes, jakes (jar cakes) and they all look so good to eat!

Again, this is not a sponsored ad but just a recommendation out of my own preference. Hehe.

6) DISTRIBUTION OF INVITES
I gotta pat myself on the back for being OCD, because I managed to get my friends' address list organised a month before I decided to send out the invites. So, by the time I was ready, I was on the ball luh siah. Hahahaha. Managed to settle all in a few days, with only some which I missed out by accident.

Syukur Alhamdulillah, for that being almost complete. :D

7) DEEWONGFMS (not exactly wedding related, I know)
(Well, technically it is part of the reason why I'm able to actually earn a little something more, apart from my full-time career, to help me with my wedding budget!)

So, here's just a little update on the recent projects that I did for the above. It was full swing right after Ramadhan, as I already had slots booked for private client shoots as well as engagements. I had two engagement assignments in August and one which was pretty short notice. After which, I got called up by MOE to assist them in the makeup for one of their shows. And another assignment from MOE for the host of an event.

I really, really love what I'm doing right now. Someday, insya Allah, it won't be just makeup. Who knows, right? Boleh venture out to bridal business ke.. HAHAHA INSYA ALLAH.

Hehehe. Doakan yerrrrrrr!

Well, I guess that's that. My apologies if this update bored you. But just to let you guys know.. I'M FEELING THE JITTERS!

Kbye.
