However thankfully, with the endless support from my partner & my parents in getting all the preparations done bit by bit, I think I will survive just about right. Insya Allah.
Well, here are a couple of things I got done while I was away from blogging:
1) Fabric
When my partner and I decided that we would custom our own outfits, I instantly knew that Arab Street was the place I really wanted to go. The idea of choosing our own fabric and customizing all our bridal outfits was a mutual decision that I knew was the most significant factor for our wedding.
Picking the songket has got to be one of the most emotional times of my life thus far, for now. Yes, I'm as dramatic as one can get. When I saw the one that I wanted, I had goosebumps all over my body. It was a pretty color, and has the most amazingly intricate detail on it. The threading on the songket made the color really pop, and I knew I had to get it. But..
JENG JENG JENG!
It wasn't enough for both my partner and I. Tak ke sedih aku? Sedih kan?! Just when I found the only one that I wanted. Cheh, padahal there were so many other choices but really.. That was a really beautiful one. And the fact that it was brought to me before any other choices, I had already set a high standard for my decision.
I'm sure the guy assisting me must be cursing himself for bringing it to me before checking on its availability, because I kept rejecting other choices he gave thereafter. Ye, aku manusia paling cerewet dalam dunia. And when I like something, I would highly unlikely change my mind about it. He even recommended me something from the "awalscha" wedding collection, but it didn't appeal to me at all apparently. Too bold a green, I must say.
So, it went on for awhile - him taking out more and more color choices, me rejecting every single one of them. I had to look around a little more, and then finally, I opened up my heart (wow, drama nya tak boleh angs) to another color of my choice. It was pretty too. Not as pretty as the first one, though. But it was pretty enough for me to imagine myself & my partner wearing it bila naik pelamin. After much pushing and pulling and sighing and desperately glancing at the initial pretty one yang tak cukup kainnya.. I gave in. I bought it with an open heart. Alhamdulillah, I promise I won't regret it. :)
To add on to that, we also managed to get fabric for my parents, grandparents, my sister & brother, married brother & his wife, and my four aunts. Of course, my choice of color theme would have to be PURPUR! I'm getting them to wear royal purple on my special day and I am so sure that I couldn't have made a better choice.
Syukur, the fabric part is settled and like my mum said, we can now focus more on the nitty gritty stuff. Like..
2) Solemnisation outfit
I found the perfect solemnisation outfit for myself. My partner kept reminding me that he wanted to wear white for our solemnisation, just because. And I really gotta thank him for the choice that he made after finding THE ONE! It costs me less than S$200, and I'm really thankful for the discount that I managed to get from the kind makcik. It's a pretty plain white long dress, with not too much bling at all - just tiny sequins and a little bit of lace at the bottom. The details on the chest area is commendable, considering the fact that I absolutely hate the idea of having anything that is just too gaudy on any of my event days.
I would snap a picture of it, but I would not want any of my outfit details leaked until the day itself. Hehehehe. Nak step surprise, tapi tak seberapa luh kan.
Oh yes, I got it from a shop on the third floor of Joo Chiat Complex!
3) MUA
Apart from mine & my partner's outfits, the next big thing I would have had to urgently look for was my personal makeup artist. Without thinking twice, I knew who I wanted to have as my personal MUA.
Being on Instagram almost every hour of the day definitely has its perks. These days, almost everyone has IG - apart from us regular people, IG is a platform where visual home artists display their pieces, potential singers record 30 seconds of their singing, fashion designers show off their awesome projects and of course, we have makeup artists who dedicate their time and efforts to doll people up and uploading their work there as well.
I've seen the works of A'dilah on IG for awhile, and I have loved how all of the makeup she's done on people look extremely natural. From engagements to random photoshoots.. They all look so good. So, I didn't have to think twice to engage in her services. You can check her out on IG at @adilahkarimbeautyservices, and the founder herself being @adilahkarim! She recently got heavily involved in Mediacorp Ria 89.7fm photoshoot, which was then featured on Manja magazine in the October issue. It's nice how a home-based, personal business grew into such an achievement to be most proud of.
A natural makeup look on my wedding day is really what I'm looking for, because I certainly do not want to look like someone even my husband can't recognise!
(I recently saw a bride, whose makeup made her look like a man. I swear. Red outfit, red lips, thick eyebrows, too much contouring, etc. Oh, don't mind me.. I'm no expert in makeup but I do know the basics of bridal makeup. I mean, maybe the bride likes it that way but I do believe that every MUA would provide some kind of advice to their clients. Lainlah kalau client dia refuse to take their MUA's advice for some reason. But if that was the MUA's choice.. I really pity the bride.)
So, that is all that I have for now.
And on a side note, I simply cannot wait to have my hand bouquet done! Here are some simple eye-catching, mouth-drooling hand bouquets c/o Google!

Alright, that's enough. I can go on looking at bridal hand bouquets forever.
Back to a busy final quarter for me now.
Assalamu'alaikum Wr. Wb.
We are 297 days away..
May Allah ease our journey with endless blessings.
Amin, insya Allah.
