7. IDEAS, AND MORE IDEAS

Good afternoon, my dear readers!

I have done a few productive things over the weekend: 1) DIY bridal costume ideas hunting, 2) Fabric sourcing (just purely testing/feeling/touching/groping, no buying), 3) Berkat ideas listing, 4) Reviewing checklist.

1) DIY bridal costume ideas hunting
Had a walk around TKC (Tanjong Katong Complex, for those of you who aren't familiar - believe me, I have friends who ask where TKC is at this time & age!) and managed to nab a few ideas on my bridal outfit. I saw a few ones that I was itching to snap pictures of and get the modifying done the minute I got home.. But, that would be cheating.

There was one particular shop that had several pretty outfits, and the price range for tempahan was not too bad either. I can't remember the name because I was too busy flipping through the portfolio that the nyonya had on her table. And I was just standing there in awe, particularly staring at the other nyonya who was meticulously sewing beads onto the baju pengantin on the sewing table.

I feel like kicking myself for not taking a mental note of the shop's name. Although, even if I did, I'll prolly forget it with my STM unless I jot it down somewhere.. But no, this idiot didn't do any of that. The kedai's on the first floor, and I am definitely considering going back to get more ideas/tips from the cute, friendly and VERY HELPFUL aunty!

2) Fabric sourcing
As I mentioned, we didn't buy anything yet because we really wanted to do some in-depth research on how each material would affect what. There were several factors that we had to carefully consider while choosing the right material for our DIY bridal outfit, and some of the common ones are:

(i) Kain tak panas
(ii) Kain tak gatal
(iii) Kain senang langkah

Well, why we decided to include point (iii) would be because we have watched wedding videos and have been to weddings where we have seen the bride not being able to even walk properly because of what she's wearing. And I'm pretty sure that it's because the material is too stiff!

I want us to be comfortable in both our outfits as it would last us the entire 4 hours (or more) on both days. So, fabric choice has to be meticulous & precise. Knowing the anal me, that would not be a problem. We have to start once I get back from the land of "handsome dan putih melepak nak mampos" Korean mats!

3) Berkat ideas listing
For this, we have been debating on whether we should present the guests with a food item or something else to remember by. We walked around TKC and saw the different & currently common berkat ideas at the moment. We have learned our lesson and are trying to forgo the whole telur idea. Based on what happened during my brother's (and some of my cousin's) wedding as well, I think it's best to avoid it and save ourselves from the ordeal. And no, I don't wish to talk about it. Hahahaha.

4) Reviewing checklist
Nothing much here, just that I have started to add a timeline for when I have to complete a certain task by. Definitely need more work on that, whether I like it or not!

Well, I guess that's about it. But here's a little note to my partner, who'll be reading this right before bed every night..

I can't wait to swim this ocean with you. The elders always say that in order to get to Happy Island, we need to have a ship, a captain, and his mighty subordinate. The route to Happy Island will not be all smooth-sailing but with the captain's constant steady lead and the mighty subordinate's supportive assistance, the boat will never struggle to float no matter how big the waves may come crashing. Whatever it takes, I will always have your back in whatever you do & whatever you choose to become. And even if the whole world turns their backs on you, I will always, always be here the same way you have always, always been around for me. I love you, Muhammad.

We are 347 days away..
May Allah ease our journey with endless blessings.
Amin, insya Allah.
